I have never visited the US and I suppose I expect all the hotels to be huge and modern so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the listings of Virginia bed and breakfast.  There are some beautiful old establishments offering Southern hospitality and many of the websites are far better than those belonging to larger hotels.  The Williamsburg sampler B& B, for example, has just four rooms and the website is well worth a visit on its own.
